| Cautions when using our products |
| 1. |
Our plastic parts are developed mainly for luggage/bags and apparel. If you use them in applications other than those mentioned above which require special standards, please consult with our sales staff. |
| 2. |
Choose the right fastener for your application from our product line which provides a variety of products and sizes with required strengths and specifications. |
| 3. |
Please make sure the plastic fastener you select is the same width as the tape you use for your application.
If you use the wrong size plastic fastener with a tape, the plastic fastener may become damaged or come loose from the tape. The tape may also become twisted or crooked as a result of poor fit. |
| 4. |
Refrain from using plastic fasteners that have been exposed to or covered in dust, sand or mud since these elements may cause product damage or malfunction.
|
| 5. |
A mixed use of plastic and metal parts in one unit should be avoided since this may cause product abrasion. |
| 6. |
Refrain from using goods left outdoors for a long time, since exposure to the sun and other elements may cause product discoloration and/or quality deterioration. |
| 7. |
Avoid using items that have been in contact with or near a heat source, since the heat may cause product deformation and/or quality deterioration. |
| 8. |
Refrain from using goods that have been in direct or indirect contact with chemicals, especially acid and alkali, since a product’s physical characteristics can change under such conditions. Also, beware of residual chemicals that can be found on the member parts of a plastic fastener. |
| 9. |
Refrain from using a product in an area that is subject to pressure, impact, or abrasion, since product deformation and/or damage may result under such conditions. |
|
| Caution Required in handling our products |
| 1. |
Choose a buckle which matches the width of the strap. If an incorrect size of buckle is used, the buckle is apt to slip into an oblique position. In this instance, the extra load on the buckle may cause it to distort, resulting in slippage. |
| 2. |
When fastening a buckle, insert its plug straight into its socket until you hear a clicking sound indicating the two parts are claimed together. Then pull on both parts to confirm that they have been completely fastened.
Incomplete fastening may result in product deformation and damage to any article attached to the buckle when the plug comes loose from the socket. If the two parts cannot be fastened together, check them for any foreign substance. Do not try to insert the plug into the socket by force. |
|
| 3. |
YKK makes two kinds of buckles. One is a front-release type with a front attachment/release button. The other is a side-release type with attachment/release buttons on both side of the buckle. Both types are intended for vertical or lateral applications only. |
| 4. |
Buckles that have been used for a long time should be checked for damage, cracks, deformation and abrasion before each use. If they are abnormal in appearance, stop using them immediately since using them may cause product damage and/or malfunctions. |
| 5. |
Completely remove any foreign substances including dust, sand or mud from a product before use. |
| 6. |
The following situation should be avoided as they may result in lowered performance. |
| |
| A. |
Closing or opening the buckle by application of force in an oblique direction. |
| B. |
Any excessive pressure/impact applied to a plastic fastener resulting from stepping on it, striking it or throwing it. |
| C. |
Uses where the buckles come into contact with caustic substances such as rest-remover, battery discharges, etc.,which may cause the buckle parts to crack, and to impair performance. |
| D. |
Uses in which one part of a YKK buckle is used with a part, whether metal or plastic, from another manufacture. |
| E. |
Any excessive pressure/impact applied to a resilient part of buckle. |
|
YKK is no position to take responsibility for any defects, injuries or damages caused by the misuse/misapplication or remodeling of our products.
